Dinner 4 - February 10th

Dine and Learn Series
Detoxification!

With the ever-increasing onslaught of toxins, it has become imperative to keep our bodies clean of toxins and explore ways to do so on a regular basis.

Dine on great food, good company and friendship, as you learn how you can benefit from the “Power of Raw,” sit back and enjoy a delicious three-course meal.

In this Workshop we explore:

• Why do we want to detox?
• Why is it important?
• How does it work?

We explore all aspects of daily living to see where toxins are hiding, in our bodies or in our homes. We will place a strong focus on stress-awareness , proper breathing, emotional aspects.

Generally, we are putting far more toxins into our system on a daily basis, then we are eliminating. We’ll explore our daily living routines and lifestyle, look at simple changes that give surprising results. It’s like cleaning your house; imagine you would do this only once or twice a year.
I am proposing a program of continuous care and maintenance; rewards will be manifold. Just as in a house where dust and dirt accumulate, toxins lodge themselves throughout your body, causing symptoms like digestive disorders, allergies, inflammation, brain fog, low energy and cravings, which we will address.

Learn about detoxification and the simple One Day Fast, one of the most important health concepts. Understand the effectiveness of this natural healing model, discover the innate healing wisdom of your body. Erika will guide you in preparing for your fast, as well as give you clear instructions for your fasting day. Making it a practice to fast one day a week on green juices, energy soup or smoothies will soon be something you look forward to. Not only do you not have to be concerned about preparing meals, you well are astonished at the energy that is being freed when the body is allowed to rest.
We are more and more challenged with an ever increasing load of toxins and stress. This is particularly important as we go into winter with less sunshine, less fresh organic food from local farmers markets.

Exploring The One Day Fast

When we’re young, we don’t mind telling people our age. Over the years, we begin to fib a little. Only as proud octogenarians do we begin to share the truth again.

Your chronological age is a given. But your biological age is something you can change!

Just imagine having youthful energy at all times of your life, with a healthy, well-functioning body and a strong immune system. This isn’t a utopian dream – it’s a reality that is well within everyone’s reach.

We hear a lot about diet, nutrition, treatments and supplements. But rarely do we hear about the benefits of cleansing and rebuilding the core of the body’s abilities.

Fasting does not make the body suffer. In reality, the body becomes healthier with fasting. It pays to cleanse our bodies on a regular basis, because the cleaner our bodies, the more energy we have. A fast of one day a week should be a part of everyone’s health regime because fasting will:
• Improve your health
• Sharpen your wits
• Increase your youthfulness and beauty.

The one day fast can be a powerful catalyst to change your eating habits, if only to add more sprouts and raw vegetables to your diet. Contrary to popular belief, fasting won’t weaken or deplete you. In fact, the opposite is true, particularly if you fast on green sprouts and vegetable juices.

Arnold Ehret, a 19th century pioneer in using fasting to help people heal themselves, observed: “Fasting is nature’s surgical table.”

This workshop is designed to demystify Fasting. Erika shares from her own experience that nothing is more effective for your body’s Detoxing than giving your body a regular, one-day-a-week fasting on fresh green juices, perhaps starting with green smoothies. Erika has created a program of an gentle introduction to fasting that is easy on the body and supportive of the emotions, making it like child’s play.

Juices are the fountains of youth and health.
Learn about the particular properties of different vegetable/sprout juices as well as super drinks and delicious smoothies. Juices and blended drinks are the quickest way to supercharge your body with powerful nutrients and plant medicines while at the same time giving the digestive system a rest, allowing the body some well deserved house cleaning. Raw, fresh juices give your body live enzymes, bioactive vitamins, minerals and trace minerals. Juices support the body’s own healing activity. The use of raw juices has been a major part of many healing programs around the world.
Juices are the “internal bath of health and youth” (Paavo Airola)
Juices will give you natural energy, help you sleep, clear your thoughts, strengthen digestion and build your immune system.

Green Drinks
Green drinks are vital to health and well-being. These are made from juiced sunflower and buckwheat sprouts and vegetables such as cucumbers, celery, parsley, watercress, sweet red peppers, and kale. What gives these drinks their healing qualities is that they are made almost entirely from the indoor tray-grown sprouts. I suggest drinking at least two twelve-ounce glasses of green drink per day. These drinks are an exceptional source of chlorophyll, vitamins and minerals. They supply from one-third to one-half of the protein needed by the average adult each day. And they have a cleansing and alkalizing effect on the body.
Drink green drinks within fifteen minutes of preparation to gain the oxygen, enzymes, and nutrients that rapidly diminish with time. You can refrigerate these drinks, but their impact will be dramatically reduced.
There is no better health insurance than fresh green juices and smoothies.
There are affordable electric as well as hand-operated juicers available and can easily ordered over the net. One of the best pieces of equipment you ever purchase.
During the evenings demonstration Erika will make you a green drink.

The Green Drink Formula
Basic Green Drink: 25% juice from sprouts, baby greens or edible weeds (dandelion, purslane, sorrel, arugula, etc.)
75% juice from green vegetables (kale, collard, cucumbers, celery, dark green lettuces, cabbage, etc.
garlic and ginger
Options: Herbs: fresh parsley, cilantro, basil, dill
Avoid or Limit: Juices of carrots, beets & other sweet vegetables. The pancreases
of entire populations no longer can handle sugars in these vegetables when juiced.
For the 12 ounces of vegetable juice, use 1 garden cucumber and 2 stalks of celery. A small carrot, several cloves of garlic, a piece of ginger, herbs etc. can be added.

No matter how we may neglect green plants in our diet and our lives, we will never
erase our need for them from our instinctive memories and our physiological systems.

The most sane and direct approach we have towards finding the fountain of youth is through proper nutrition, utilizing potent foods like wheatgrass and sprouts, and moderate exercise. This requires effort, and is not as glamorous as taking an elixir - but the results more than justify the means.

Juices are not concentrated Food
Mother Earth gives us food both as nourishment and as medicine. So it makes good sense to use our food with both these goals in mind.
Juices are not a concentrated food. Nothing could be farther from the truth. A concentrated food is a product which has been dehydrated, from which its water content has been dissipated. Juices on the other hand are very liquid food, mostly organic water of the finest quality with the nourishing atoms and molecules in comparatively microscopic volume. It is the microscopic volume for which the cells and tissues of the body are starved! In the extraction of “complete” juices, it is essential that the fibers be properly triturated (pulverized) in order that the vital elements may be released into the liquid.

Quick Energy from organic raw fresh juices.
When you consume fresh juices you get nearly 100% of their nutrients and cofactors including the phytonutrients and enzymes that aid in their digestion. Fresh juices digest faster than smoothies because juicing eliminates the fiber. Fruit and vegetable juices pass right through the stomach and are absorbed within minutes. This makes juices predigested food. You can feel a burst of energy within minutes.
Fresh fruits and vegetables contain marvelous plant compounds that stimulate your immune system, and are proven fighters of diseases such as arthritis, heart disease, and cancer.

Smoothies
Green smoothies are very nutritious and very easy to make, all you need is a blender. The ideal ratio is about 50% ripe organic fruit mixed with about 50% organic green vegetables.
Green smoothies are easy to digest. When well blended, all the valuable nutrients in the fruit and veggies become homogenized, or blended into such small particles that it becomes easy for the body to assimilate these nutrients. The green smoothies literally start to get absorbed in your mouth. Green smoothies are a complete food because they still have all the fiber.
Green smoothies belong to the most palatable dishes for humans of all ages.
By consuming two or three 8 oz. cups of green smoothies a day you will consume enough of greens a day to nourish the body.

Some of my favourite greens are parsley, cilantro, spinach, celery, kale, romaine, lambs- quarters, dandelion; the selection is endless.
Some of my favourite fruits are mangos, pears, apples, bananas, peaches, blueberries.
I like to add Spirulina or Chlorella, or E3 Live as well as Maca to my green smoothies.

Participants receive a course booklet with cleansing and healing juices and smoothie recipes including the properties of the ingredients.

This workshop is not intended as medical advice. It is my sharing with you about living foods and their preparation and does not claim to cure illness or disease, but to give you some ideas for healthy food creations. Prepare your foods with happy, peaceful thoughts. Listen to your body and learn to trust your creative intuition.
